Biography

Yumi started her career in the entertainment industry since 1982 as a manager for European fashion models at the Society of Style Model Agency in Tokyo. She traveled throughout Europe and the US to audition models for Tokyo Collections and TV commercials. Soon after, she was recruited by a new modeling agency, Axelle, Inc., to work as their first manager.

In 1988, Yumi moved her career to Los Angeles and helped Yuko Enterprises to establish their Asian talent management division. After 3 years working with them, she was recruited by a production company, Three Point One Promotion and she helped them to establish their casting division.

In 1995, Yumi moved on in her career as an independent casting director and has been doing so for more than 2,000 casting projects including "Ninja" starring Scott Adkins and Tsuyoshi Ihara, "Bunraku" starring Gackt, "Letters from Iwo Jima" directed by Clint Eastwood, "Haunted Highway" starring Hinano Yoshikawa, "Picture Bride" starring Yuki Kudo.

She has done numerous TV commercial casting projects including spots for the US Census, Parco, Health Net, Blue Cross, Wal-Mart, Kia, Samsung, Shiseido, Hanes, Mitsubishi and many more. She has now expanded and works closely with her teams in NY and Hawaii. She also has a casting business partner in Tokyo, Japan called Wild Orange Artists and it enables her to do casting between Japan and US simultaneously.
